Not all people know the relevance of essential oils in our body nor the benefits of essential oils especially on its relaxing power. Generally, essential oil are distilled liquid by water or steam from different flowers, leaves, bark, stems, roots and all other elements of plants. A lot of people would mistakenly think that essential oils are oily when in fact, it’s not, most of them are clear.

Our body and essential oils interact in numerous ways. First, it gets to our skin where it is being absorbed. It breaks into our epithelial tissues which includes our skin, nasal passages, bronchioles, lungs and gastro-intestinal tract.
Second stage would be about penetration of these essential oils to internal tissues of our body which is 400 times more rapidly than that of water. Once it gets absorbed, the essential oils rapidly enter into our lymphatic and blood capillary systems which start the general circulation. We must bear in mind that nothing really stays in the body very long. Since aromatherapy oils are volatile, it often leaves our body in about 48 hours.
Third stage is the elimination procedure. Some essential oils are relaeased by the surface of the lungs as vapors. The components of these essential oils are excreted by the liver, stored briefly in our gall bladder, and then dumped into our intestinal tract.

When we smell these essential oils, its vapor stimulates small hair-like extensions of our olfactory nerve and such nerve is the unique one in the human body which is in contact with the external environment that goes straight to our brain. The rest of our senses has several nerves and synaptic junctions even before these impulses reach our brain. This is very crucial in the processing of our reactions to different emotions, appetites, desires as well as memories. It is by this very reason why aroma oils or essential oils have such deep impact, not just on our moods and reactions, but on our overall “being” that with even a light dose is enough to create such sensations.

Most people especially those who have so much stress in their life has heard about aromatherapy because of its soothing and relaxing effect. What is aromatherapy and where did it originate? How exactly does aromatherapy work? Aromatherapy is a type of an alternative medicine which has volatile liquid plant as its materials labeled as essential oils. It strongly affects the health and mood of the person who uses it and it has been proven that it helps out eliminating certain health issues. The Essential oil has a unique chemical composition which is different from the other herbal products since its distillation process only picks up the lighter phytomolecules thereby, it is high in sesquiterpenes and monoterpenes and other VOC substances like, many aromatic compounds, non-terpene hydrocarbons, esters and some organic sulfides .

Basically, aromatherapy means treatments using the scents from oils which involves taking great care of one’s body through the help of botanical oils like rose, lavender, lemon and peppermint. Such essential oils could either be added to our bath or massaged in our skin. It could also be directly inhaled or even diffused too give that therapeutic scent in an entire room. Aside from that, aromatherapy is a pain reliever, it also helps our skin, alleviate fatigue and tension and lastly, it invigorates our whole body.

Essential oils arouse one’s sense of smell. For doctors who conducted studies about patients who lost their sense of smell, it has been found out that it can lead to possible psychiatric problems like depression and anxiety. Science dictates that humans are capable of distinguishing 10,000 different smells. The smells will penetrate through the cilia and then to our limbic system: that part of our brain that is responsible for our moods, memory, emotions and learning.
Studies would show that lavender scent increases alpha waves found in the back of our head that promotes relaxation. The aroma of Jasmine, on the other hand, increases beta waves in the front of our head, which promotes being in an attentive mood or state. Essential oils truly has chemical components which can exert specific effects on our mind and body and although the chemistry may be quite a complex but it includes alcohols, esters, ketones, aldehydes, and terpenes.

Aromatherapy is becoming a mainstream and in fact, in Japan, engineers are incorporating aroma systems into new buildings – the scent of lavender and rosemary is pumped into the customer area to calm down the waiting customers who would become irate eventually, while the perfumes from lemon and eucalyptus are used in the bank teller counters to keep the staff alert.

Well the answer is there are a lot of oils used for massage and all of them came from the natural extracts of fruits, nuts and so forth. When we speak about the use of massage oils, it is commonly used for relaxation and healing. Applying massage oil while doing massage increases the therapeutic effect of the massage because of its fragrance, and a soothing effect to the skin. The aromas of the oil stimulate some part of the brain to promote relaxation. These therapeutic effects may not only be felt on the physical level but penetrates deeply into the emotional level. Here are some oils that are commonly used for massage:

Sunflower oil
Oil extracted from the sunflower seeds which is light and non-greasy. It is rich in linoleic acid that is essential for a healthy skin. Most people use soaps that are harsh for the skin and may remove linoleic acid from the skin. Sunflower oil can help your skin regain its beauty and glow.

Almond oil
This is one of the most popular oils use for massage. It allows you to easily stroke your hand due to its slight greasiness and you do not need to reapply always to the skin. So you can save more money and less likely to irritate the skin.

Olive oil
Our first impression when think of olive oil is all about cooking, in fact in can also be use for massage and some skin therapy together with some other substance. Olive can be so greasy and has its smell for cooking so most people do not bother to use it.

Peppermint oil

When hear about peppermint oil, it is known for its smell. Its smell can help you relax your mind and body. The oil has also some soothing effect and helps promote blood circulation.

Other oils for massage such as sesame, avocado, grape seed, coconut, wheat germ, are also available. Massage oils have its own unique therapeutic effect and it is much more important to examine first your skin before thorough use because it might cause allergy.

Aromatherapy came from the old practice of using plant essences, which was produced naturally by plants. It was used to promote one’s health and well-being. Aromatherapy is another type of alternative medicine; it utilizes the use of aromatic compounds found in the essential oil that can be found in almost all plants. It is made of essential oils that came from a wide variety of plants in which their bark, flowers, roots, etc. have undergone a process called steam distillation or cold pressing. It can help ease the pain which is caused by a wide variety of ailments. It even has some effects on the nervous system which relieves your physical and emotional well being. It has been said that specific essential oils have powerful results on both body and spirit.

Aromatherapy uses a lot of products. One of which is the popular essential oils. Before these oils can be used, they must first undergo a process of dilution to base oil. It has so many applications. One of which is, it is used to disinfect the air and, in one way or another, can help in alleviating colds. It can even be used to set a romantic atmosphere in a particular room.

Essential oils have very astounding properties; they are found out to have such healing properties for both physically and emotionally. Only the organic essential oil can perform this function at its best, the synthesized oil cannot reach the optimum capacity of an organic essential oil. They can assist in relieving pain and discomfort. As a form of therapy, some people would incorporate these oils in cooking. Essential oils stimulate, as well as, relax the mind and body. In order for the body to execute its standard functions.

Incense is one of the oldest forms of aromatherapy. Incense also came from essential oils. It is burned in order for it to perform its function, to release a certain type of aroma which fills the air and stimulates the senses. Nowadays, incense has a wide variety of forms both synthetic and natural. Make sure that you are not purchasing the synthetic type of incense since they release toxic substance when burned. Only the natural incense has a lot of uses. It can even be simply made at home.

There are a lot of aromatherapy products sold in the market nowadays. People use most of these products to set up a certain mood inside the room such as during a romantic evening with someone special. If you want to use aromatherapy products to improve your well being, you should consult an aroma therapist first so that you would know which product would get you to have your desired result.

In a stressful world, everybody deserves to relax. This article would tackle about the importance of relaxation. It is very important since it helps to keep our stress levels down and of course, it improves our health. There are various illnesses that may occur if we work too much and it could be any mental health problems, memory failure and the dreaded heart attack. Therefore, it is important to have at least 10 minutes a day to wind down. You might want to have a bubble bath or could be a quick relaxation session just before you are going to sleep. Other samples of relaxation are the following: meditation, massages and yoga. It is the key when it comes to stress relief therapies. It has been proven that stress levels are so much higher compared in the past so it is necessary for our health to bring these levels down.

Below are tips as to how one could get a short exercise just before going to sleep to avoid sleepless nights which causes stress.

1. Put yourself into a position wherein you’re comfortable and be in a place where no sounds or lights are going to distract.
2. Acquire a passive attitude and let yourself be relaxed although don’t force yourself.
3. Do a full concentration on how you feel, think of a relaxing image, a place and a time which you feel comfortable with.
4. Try thinking about a 1 or 2 syllable words and try repeating it in your mind and carefully close your eyes.
5. Make sure all of your muscles are relaxed. Start off with your feet and working up the body. If a particular part of the body feels tense, tighten those muscles then release it.
6. If an area of your body still feels tense, stay there for a while and repeat what was mentioned above.
7. As you try to listen to how your body reacts, tell yourself that parts of your body are becoming heavy and relaxed.
8. Check out your way of breathing. As you breathe out, say the word you’ve chosen to yourself.
9. When distractions enter your head, remember to put them to the back of your mind for later, and then return to your chosen word. Continue doing it for 15 minutes.
10. With your eyes closes, try to lie or sit quietly for a few minutes and then slowly, try opening it.
11. Continue doing this relaxation steps. Once you’re used to this, you should be able to relax yourself in stressful circumstances.

Lymphatic massage or otherwise known as lymphatic drainage is a form of massage that stimulates the standard bodily functions. It helps improve the body’s metabolism. It helps by detoxifying the body in a natural way. Last but not least, it helps strengthen our immune system. It allows us to feel fully-charged to go out there and seize the day.

The lymphatic system regulates the immune system and is responsible for the removal of fluid and wastes. This is what helps the body get rid of toxins and fluids that have a potential to cause sickness. When there is a certain blockage in the lymphatic system, the fluid begins to accumulate. This explains why the whole body would feel tired and heavy. This accumulation of fluid slows down the lymphatic system which, in effect, would lower the body’s immune system thus making the body susceptible to various diseases.

Lymphatic massage revitalizes the lymphatic system. It helps the system function correctly and prevents any blockages in the lymph nodes. It makes the body become clean from disease causing toxins and makes the immune system a lot stronger. In turn, you can now become as healthy as a horse.

Lymphatic massage is good for people who are suffering from weak immune systems, injury from sports, low energy, etc. it has also been found to have agreeable results to the skin, and it makes you have a lot of energy, enough to conquer respiratory problems. All in all it heals your body back to normal. Maybe this is the secret to Wolverine’s healing factor, which makes him heal so fast.

Aside from the benefits to your bodily functions, lymphatic massage also has some benefits in terms of emotional stability. It helps fight off emotional problems and stress, things that keep you from or slows down your pace when you are in the middle of something. It relieves you from being so heavy and tired. It can also help you think straight. It gives you a sense of great vitality, which makes you feel positive and have enough energy to finish your job for the day.

Long ago, the only source of light is the sun. Then man discovered fire and used it to provide light to his surroundings. Today, not only one or two but there are several or even hundreds of sources of light is available. The most basic source of light in the dark is the Candle. The Candle before is made up of animal or vegetable fat. But as the times have progressed, newer materials are being used in candle making- the paraffin wax and the beeswax. The advantage of beeswax and the paraffin wax is that it has a more pleasing smell and there is not much mess when it is melted unlike the animal and vegetable fat that is very much oily in texture.

Candles are made with a wick in the middle where fire is to be lighted and the wax helps the wick burn slowly thus creating longer burning and lighting period. Candles have developed thru the years. Today, a number of candles are being made with different compositions in order to withstand higher melting points, longer burning time, etc. candles today are also being used aside from providing light. Mostly, candles now are being made a decoration and sometimes used in therapies-thus the creation of the scented candles.

Scented candles are made with added perfume ingredient. These candles are mostly used for Aromatherapy purposes. In Aromatherapy, essential oils are burned to be evaporated and fill the air with scents to relax and calm the senses. The same is the purpose of scented candles. It is way convenient because there is no need to burn oil, use other materials to create the scent and much safer to use. With just one light to the candle wick, scent fills the air as the wax melts down and the aroma disperses in the surrounding to appeal to the senses.

Scented candles are used in different occasions. Scented candle is also one of the most favorite romantic accessories of all time. The different scents affects the mood of the person that smells it that is why it is used in different occasions. The most common scents are jasmine, lavender, rose, chamomile, cinnamon, gardenia and many more. Scented candles are also one of the common and best gifts given in different occasions. It is versatile in every way and whichever way it used, it always gives light.

Ancient Chinese were the first ones to discover the spirit of essential oils. Chinese believed that everything in life should be in balance (Yin-Yang) and that the activities of human beings should have an intimate relationship with their environment. Chinese are the first people to practice medicine thru the use of herbs and essential oils. They only use raw materials from the environment, plants being the most common source of their medicine. They often use Essential oils that are derived from plant’s volatile liquid and aromatic compound. These oils are used in Aromatherapy to elicit a feeling of relaxed physical and emotional state.

Aromatherapy is the common term used in referring to the ancient medicine tradition of using essential oils for the purpose of preventing or treating disease conditions. It is said that when inhaled, the essential oil’s aroma affects the brain’s limbic system (creating a calm and happy feeling, elevating mood, etc.) and when applied to the skin with a gentle massage, it relieves aching muscles, joint pains and it also has antimicrobial and antifungal properties.

Other theories of aromatherapy suggest the direct synergy of the body and the environment. The theory explains that the essential oils contains the “life force” of plants that eliminates the negative forces of the body thus promoting “balance of the body’s energies” leading to good health and well being.

There is a wide a variety of essential oils used in Aromatherapy. Essential oils are carefully selected according to its use in the human body by the direction of an expert aromatherapist because there are also risks involve in the use of these essential oils. Essential oils have potent properties and may bring out different reactions of the body like allergies and hypersensitivity reactions when not in proper use. It can also affect pregnant women, may be contraindicated in certain disease conditions and may have drug-to-drug interactions.

Despite the medicinal and healing properties of Aromatherapy, it is still important to use it with caution because in these modern times, a lot has change. People are already taking medications, eat certain foods and drinks substances that are totally different from what the ancient people take that are purely organic and natural.
